New real HTTP and FTP mirror available

Ever hated the fact that the service of www.engelschall.com and
ftp.engelschall.com is really slow?
Now a complete(!) mirror site was established by me on courtesy of
IT Support Group
Department of Electrical Engineering
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology
Actually this is possible because of personal support by
Fritz Zaucker <firstname.lastname@example.org> (member of this list) and
Tobias Oetiker <email@example.com>
Give them the credit because it's their.
Currently a lot of fine-tuning still has to be done by me, but the new
Internet site already runs 90% of my stuff correctly and physically can be
already adressed via:
Why is this interesting for you?
Because the site here in germany (www.engelschall.com aka
www.de.engelschall.com) resides on a 128 Kb/s Internet link, only. In
contrast, www.ch.engelschall.com resides on an very fast Internet link which
itself has an 8 MB/s transatlantic link to the USA. In other words: This
machine has a more amount of bandwidth then the german machine and thus
presents you much faster access.
I'm currently syncing this new machine in parallel with www.de.engelschall.com
from my development machine, so it always holds the same information. The
www.engelschall.com still links to www.de.engelschall.com. But I'm currently
writing an Apache module which will automatically determine the faster link
for you and automatically forces the redirects. In the meantime try it out
yourself (i.e. either www.de.engelschall.com or www.ch.engelschall.com) and
decide your own which one is faster for you.
