Seems like ePerl has some problems on your FreeBSD box with the
dynamic shared object stuff of Perl 5.005_01. Hmmm... Can you
please test if a simple and real Perl script

  use IO;

works on your system correctly? If yes, could you then please provide me with
your Config.pm which stays under /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.00501/i386-freebsd/?
I've to check the entries there with the things ePerl uses from it.
