I was thinking in something similar to what are you asking. But as I
have not so much time I did not even began in tesing my ideas.

I wanted to make a 'slice' option, just to split a big page in
smaller ones. If you have visited ZDNet you notice they split all the
stories. I think I like this 'book' alike idea of having several
small pages and..

Well, my plan was something like:

------ WML Code --------
#slices number=3

Text 1
Text 2
Text 3

The result will be somethink like:

---------- page1.html ------------
Text 1

<div align="left">
       <a href="page2.html">2</a>
       <a href="page3.html">3</a>
       <a href="page2.html">&gt;&gt;</a>

And similar, the onther pages.

Somebody is probably thinking:

I never heard of a tag like:

#slice number=3

This is just used for a preprocessor called before WML that will do
among other things substitute it for:

#!wml -o "(ALL-S_*)uS_1:$WML_SOURCE_BASENAME1.html" \
	  -o "(ALL-S_*)uS_2:$WML_SOURCE_BASENAME2.html" \
	  -o "(ALL-S_*)uS_3:$WML_SOURCE_BASENAME3.html" \

Really, I don't think if my Idea is good or not. Using a preprocessor
first can make things a bit complicated. But I cannot think of a more
confortable way of doing this all.
